My beloved Butch was sent to the rainbow bridge by his vet on February 15, 2008, after suffering from an aggressive cancer. He was the light of my life; one of the best canine friends anyone could ever hope to have.  Not only was he my friend, but my business partner and my partner in competition. He is soulfully and painfully missed.

Makaio here.  I want to tell you about my Hero Butch.

Butch was a pointer who was rescued from a dumpster by Mrs. Diann.  Butch was co-partner with Mrs. Diann in Lucky Dog Canine Training.  He gave very good advice to his doggy friends.  Butch had a problem at first getting to close to other dogs, but with Mrs. Diann’s training he became proficient in obedience and a champion agility dog.  Not to mention a better business partner than most humans.

Butch was my mentor, I am a 2-year-old cairn terrier, I met Butch on my first night of puppy class & I was amazed, he did everything correctly.  Sometimes Mrs. Diann did not even speak she just used hand signals and Butch responded.

He told me that night his human Mom (Mrs. Diann) taught him everything he knows (and the dogs out there know he taught her a lot also).

BUTCH SAID:  Makaio if you and your Mom practice, practice, practice you might someday come close to getting all this.  (I told you he was smart)  Butch said dogs are like people some are better at certain things so try it all.  I said little me an agility dog he said YES why not.

Butch was my special friend and I really enjoyed his company.  He was so wonderful that even when he became ill, he was still willing to deal with a little sometimes-obnoxious cairn pup.  I felt honored to be in his company.

As I grew up we had many laughs (Butch in my stroller) and some tears.  However, Butch will live in our hearts forever & I will continue to work with my Mom and Mrs. Diann at Lucky Dog Canine Training and hope to become a dog my Hero Butch would be proud to call a friend.
